JWs need their safe space (recent WT quote)
by neat blue dog inwhen people complain of being victimized by god's organization, it's actually you, faithful jw, who are the victim, because you're forced to hear it!
don't worry, just go to your safe space, put on the industrial sized headphones that special kids use and repeat calming mantras to yourself .
.. we may be disturbed by false stories that opposers spread about us.

The urgent, lifesaving work of Jehovah's witnesses......hardly!!
by RayoFlight2014 insince june 2016 i have kept a journal of my encounters with jehovah's witnesses at my door or in my street.
i'm a a nosey bastard and a bit of a home body when i'm not at work so i don't miss much of who comes past my home or knocks at the door.. will and dill.. they came to my door on a wednesday morning around 10:30am mid june 2016, i was on afternoon shift and had been reading bart ehrman "misquoting jesus".. what follows is the conversation as best i could recount after they left;.
of the two young gentlemen, dillon, the younger in appearance introduced will and himself, he then proceeded to present me with a brochure about world conditions supposedly getting worse.. me: i could stand at the door nodding in agreement if you like?

I remember stockpiling incidents that pointed to the worsening of the world. Every negative action by politicians and world leaders. And if there were positive things like breakthroughs in medicine or humanitarian efforts - you only had to repeat the WT's phrase "they are just rearranging the chairs on the Titanic" to know how futile they were.
After being out for a few years, I only had to listen to the jw at work nodding and talking in a conspirator tone about "how bad the world is" to really see how well the WT has convinced people that it's true.
The only thing about the present world that is really scary, is that the whole world can go up in radioactive dust from a deluded ruler.

I speculate many Japanese PIMI are visiting apostate websites to collect information

You do have several good side by sides ie the golden calf and the logo worship. For me personally, I have a hard time with info making fun of something that is serious. It amuses people that have no interest in it but shocks people that are in because it mocks them and what they consider to be a part of their life.
But that is just how I feel.

Seeking advice
by Mizalisa ini'm not a jw, nor was i raised jw.
for the past three years i have been involved with a man who was raised jw, who at first told me he no longer believed as they did, but who, it has become clear over time, has not told his family or religious community the truth.
he has strung me along for years, never introduced me to anyone in his life.

It sounds like he is very reliant on financial help from his parents. You didn't say how old he is and what's the economic future for him where you live, so it's impossible to guess how many more years it will take for him to earn a living.
It would have been better if he had confessed this to you in the beginning and since he didn't, you feel disrespected. I would say an honest talk about all the difficulties he expects and how it will impact you, is necessary.
There is something you ought to know about those that leave this religion (even other ones too) is that unless they come to a conclusion that JW religion is false/hypocritical, they will always believe it in their hearts and it will influence them. Usually not in a good way.
Only you know if you want to continue on.

Wow. I love the filming. Reminds me of Lord of the Rings. I always imagine giant stegosauruses underneath with their plates poking out.

Compensation claims against Jehovah’s Witnesses could be jeopardised: lawyer
by Tahoe inhttps://www.crikey.com.au/2019/09/12/compensation-claims-jehovahs-witnesses/.
dr judy courtin explains to inq why the destruction of documents could have huge ramifications for victims inside the jehovah’s witnesses.. an order by the jehovah’s witnesses in australia to destroy confidential records could undermine a child abuse compensation claim currently being prepared for the supreme court of victoria.
a lawyer representing the victim says she was shocked to learn that the christian body had ordered confidential documents, including notes taken by elders investigating child sexual abuse, to be destroyed.

I would hope that the destroying of records would mean that if a person brought forth a claim, the WT couldn't refute it. Period. Let them pay for their cold hearted acts.

Some people are just way too bitter and obsessed.
Let's not be shallow and judgmental eh?
I wasn't obsessed, I was surprised. It isn't about people spending money on things they like. Because if they got the money they can spend.
I usually think of Witnesses as being as a whole, well Jehovah's Witnesses. Supposedly following the GB and the bible. I tried to when I was in. But I've thought about it and it reminds me of my father's grandma. Any conversations about the bible that my mother brought up, would invoke an immediate reaction of "I believe in Joseph Smith and the book of Mormon" from my grandma. You would think she was a staunch Mormon. But she was really a "jack" Mormon. Smoked and drank coffee and didn't go to church
There isn't a term like that for JW's. But there are many I think that are Jack JW's.
No, you are making a character judgement based on things you don't know.
You don't know me either.

I was out thrift shopping where my sister lives. Before I went in to the store, I went to donut shop a few doors down. As I walked up, there by the window was a family and others eating donuts. First impression was that they were witnesses. Shirt and tie for the men and the young boys, and long skirts on the ladies.
So I got a donut and turned around to glance briefly at them. The father noticed and smiled - I could imagine the thought that they were giving a "witness" was running through his mind.
Anyway I went to the thrift store and then came out and got in my car. By that time they had finished and came out. I thought they were heading for a white toyota car but instead the husband came around a nice new dark grey car with paper plates. With a flourish he pointed his key fob at the car. I thought Oh he's unlocking the doors. Instead, the two back doors lift straight up like bird wings. It had a symbol on the trunk. Turns out it's a Tesla.
If it's an X model, it's over $100,000.
Used to be Cadillacs, BMW's and Mercedes that would certainly raise eyebrows but a Tesla? Probably the brother can explain it away by saying "Well if the GB happen to come for a visit, I'm certain they would enjoy being taken around in my Tesla"

"Did The Straps Hurt the Tree?"

Wow the mom has gotten prettier but Caleb's head is two times the size of his mom's.
Isn't the use of "straps" as an illustration, a little suggestive? I'm a gardener so it's not a bad illo in itself. Just that the use of the word straps, reminds one of getting "the strap"

Jw's mentioned in shows
by days of future passed inhave you ever been watching a show and suddenly, there's a reference to jehovah's witnesses?
i was watching an english mystery show from a while back and the main character hetty, was giving a list of religions that could have drawn off a young girl.
one of the "fringe" groups was tada - jehovah's witnesses.. there is plenty of other more well known clips like snl coneheads being approached by fake jw's.
